2024 Toyota GR Corolla Circuit Review | The New Standard for Hot Hatchbacks
Read my written review here!
www.slashgear.com/1588824/2024-toyota-gr-corolla-circuit-review-new-hot-hatchback-standard/
Toyota answered the prayers of automotive enthusiasts around the world with the introduction of the GR Corolla. On paper, it's hard to argue with: an incredibly attractive hatchback design with a potent 300-horsepower three-cylinder powerplant powering all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. On top of that power, it's got suspension tuned by Toyota's Gazoo Racing motorsport division, which is also responsible for the GR86 and the GR Supra. What more could a devout driving enthusiast ask for?

Cory and Trevor vibes 🤣
Why not just epoxy it to the hood?
Acetone will also weaken the epoxy
200k 😮congratulations
“Push off Granpa” so glad I kept trying to pause on the message 😂
Gonna test drive one of these bad boys soon. Either one of these or a 2014 gt500 haven't decided yet. Good review
IRS suspension for the win.
love my GRC Core with all of the fixings.
never put a wrench or any metal tool on top or near the top of the battery. you have that huge metal wrench on the battery, if it gets bumpd and touches the positive terminal and any grounded metal at the same time it will weld itself to your car, or worst case it will explode. pleases be careful and don't teach people bad habits.
Almost every time I do this in a video I make a comment about people like you coming into the comments lol. This isn't teaching anyone a bad habit. I understand that it's possible for it to get bumped and short the terminals, but you'd have to be really stupid for that to happen. I like to think I'm not. You want to point out some bad habits? Go watch the millions of videos where people work on cars from underneath on just a jack.
No
Yes, actually
This reviews where you have to look at another man's face are bad, too bad, they almost ruin things. Why can't people just show us POV instead of Ugly people talking to us as if they are worth a gaze?
It actually smells like a field of wildflowers. Amazing. VW has done an amazing job.
This skit is trash 🗑
Lmao yeah it is. Literally made it in a matter of minutes because I didn't have another video idea. Here we are, though. It's made me more money than pretty much any other video on my channel.
Tip for wet rollers and brushes - just get excess drip paint off then put in air tight plastic bag twisting the bag then around the handles = wet, steady to go in the morning without washing, throwing away and never ending cleaning. Keeps the roller / brushes wet and fresh.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’m drive a 2020 STI. But if I had to get another car it would be a GR Corolla.
Lmao that same shit happened to me with the tap and die handle
I painted my entire life and always laughed at foam rollers. Now I'm the biggest fan. I never paint cabinets except with foam rollers. I'm fixing to paint my truck with a foam roller and I know I can do a better job than spraying after wet sanding.
I bought an old sema truck, this is no joke, mechanics look at it and ask who the hell built it. Horrible welds. Bad geometry. He said this truck is not meant to drive around it’s a show truck. It was built to trailer around. Now after one year . Still can’t get a tire shop to align. 18,000 dollars in and it’s still torn apart in my garage. Have to rebuild entire front end, from steering box down. Transmission transfer case tires. Fuck list goes on and on.
After you break the oil filter loose get a half gallon zip lock freazer bag and hold it againt the block with one hand and spin off with other so all the oil just goes in the bag
Can't get enough of this😂
My 04 outback has a rusty hood.. the rest is passable, so it’s a smaller paint job.. heard about roller painting on bush radical’s channel.. then i found your videos.. I’m convinced.. my subie aka “ the subaghini” just passed 200,000 miles… it’s not going bye bye anytime soon… but it’s also not going to go to a pro auto body paint shop… not worth the money..
Going to get a 91 tmrw, literally perfect condition, 150k miles, not a scratch on it. I’m so happy.
Got a 94 302 swaped, i'm very exited
Unless things changed from when I bought my 2023 GRC, there are no brake differences between trims, just painted red or not red.
You’re correct. But the red paint is a good indicator of the performance differentials. Canada however got all black calipers with I hear most being with the upgraded diffs
500km on my blue circuit so far. had a 23 red core with 21k. absolutely love the platform.
I've had mine for a couple of weeks. I smile each time I drive it. Its great to have hot hatch choices
This or Type R?
Tough call in general, but I'm taking the Corolla personally
Two great choices... but I bought a GRC last week
Gr corolla is better all around car
Here in Puerto Rico the Core version starts at $59,995… 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫
After watching this video I wasn't sure if you really liked the car or not. 🤪
I am very subtle
Sorry Type R is in a different league. Plus it’s slit more roomy and practical. Corolla looks very much like a normal Corolla besides the exhaust. CTR 2.0 litre engine is proven and bulletproof
So is the gr corolla engine? Lamspeed just got one to 1000bhp last weekend. And they’ve been proven in Europe for years pushing double what they come with from factory
are dealers still trying to steal thousands over MSRP?
Some are, but a handful are not
You nailed it. the Golf R is better, but the Corolla is silly where the Golf is serious and the Corolla makes you giggle and the handling and grip are way beyond expectation.
Don’t like the Smurf blue paint
That's the best part! 😭
That's the rarest color... it has character but I understand not wanting it. My GRC is white
I want one even more now. 😭 I'm hoping some other auto makers see the success of the GR Corolla and we start seeing more hot hatches from more than just Toyota and VW. Give the people what they want! (The people want rally cars you can daily.)
New Standard for hot hatches? Sorry, you have the GTI, Golf R, Type R and Type S ahead of you. Still glad to see Toyota finally get it's head out of it's *** after 20 some years.
Sorry, but the GTI and Golf R don't provide the same raw and connected driver feeling, and those other two sedans you listed need not apply for the hot hatch category lol. ;)
Wait the Type R isn't a hot hatch?
@@thebumpban4959 Yeah, I included the Type R. Of course the GTI is the original.
The Corolla is more fun and is more engaging, even though the Golf R is a better car and better value. I love the boy racer tuner feel of the Corolla, and front and rear Torsen are a huge plus.
@thebumpban4959 It's a sedan and I'm tired of pretending It's a hatchback lol. If the Civic and Integra are hatchbacks then so is a Tesla Model S.
I had an '88 and a '90 All Trac which were waay too soft but the history and their accomplishments in the WRC made them truly special cars
Looks like a mini Prius 😂😂
I drove mine from Fontana to Ensenada Mexico under less than a half tank of fuel One way only .. with full tank.. eco mode ..I was getting 29 mpg..
6k on my 2023 Grc very enjoyable.. give me every smile when I drive it .. but I m looking forward in the FL5 type r .. i love the civic to complete my dream garage..😃
My type R is my daily but my GR blue flame is my baby, this will be sought after in the future. But my type R they are a dime of dozen.
Type-R is still the standard, sorry.
better option for those that want to drive in the snow or wet, period.
@@SethKnows doesn't change what i said, even with FWD it's a better overall vehicle, period. i've lived in Michigan my whole life with FWD cars, they drive just fine in the wet and snow, it's about having the right rubber for the occasion. but i mean, go on about how that makes it the standard for all hot hatches because of one specific use case.
@@dasmg I agree, but most buying the GRC don't care about the marginally better track performance. My comment wasn't about how well it gets around, it was more about how fun and engaging the car is in those conditions and having FWD with an electric parking brake is about 1% of the fun that you could have. CTR is a better vehicle, but starts much higher compared to multiple trims and budgets with the GRC (CTR has a much higher market adjustment too) Also, I'd argue the 3 cylinder GRC oozes character, whereas the CTR feels more refined and behaved.
@@dasmgI live in MI too for the past 20 years and I completely agree about awd not being a requirement but it’s a nice to have feature . The FL5 was not build for all weather climate - 19 inch wheels no heated seats no heated steering lower to the ground etc etc. the grc has a better package for an all season climate - 18 in wheels heated steering mirrors and seats .5 inches higher ground clearance front/back parking sensors and that’s even before we discuss the drive train. The FL5 was built for track. The r mode is not even usable on the streets . The more daily driver variant is the ITS. The GRC was built for daily driving more so than the FL5. Based on my test driving and the way I see it - track mostly and some daily driving get the Honda. Mostly daily driving and need a bigger car to do it all get the Integra . Mostly daily driving on a smaller size spartan interior for less money get the Toyota .
The Type R is not a hot hatchback lol
Was really close to buying one last month. As someone who’s owned plenty of AWDs, (r32 GTR) that wasn’t a major selling point for me. Ended up going across the street from Toyota and bought a FL5 Civic Type R. Good review btw
Got my dream car want to buy a type r but i think my price range is more imon the premium gr corrolla side
Did the exact opposite after test driving both . The GRC was much more fun to drive and a better daily but I woulda been happy either way. Can’t believe how much I missed an actual manual hand brake. I do wish the grc circuit would come in as many color options as the CTR
7k miles on my GR Corolla and I'm still obsessed!
I've got about 170 miles on mine lol.. It does grip and corner amazingly well. Not fast, but lots of fun around town.
@@spinnettiI’d say it’s pretty fast considering it’s a Corolla..but to each their own.
I have 5900 miles after 16 months
20K on mine just made a post lol
@@UnstoppableMileage the man the myth himself! Woulda been 35k if you didn’t get the fl5 🤣
This video was a nice hot butt surprise
Fist!!?!
Thank you so much! So I had to attach the box to the trunk cables, it would turn off limp mode, then I reattached my battery and attached the starter box to the engine bay grounds and it starts up no limp mode every time. A 900w battery should take care of it. Again thank you so much!
Nah it's a pony machine not a muscle one. stop dreaming.
Push off, grandpa.
Decent review. I'm a bit torn on the RC F, Lexus IS 500 which I have have same Trans and Engine but the tuning is different and chassis on RC F is very solid when I test drove, I'm sure how solid it will be at 120mph+ speeds and on tracks. The downsides are no TVD option anymore, no engine bracing since 2023 and no more memory seat also a downgrade for ML Audio in the IS vs RC F plus no 360 view, I know these are not big issues but this is a 80K car, the 70K RC F does not exist, as Lexus only builds these same for the IS 500 F Sport it does not exist only the Premium exists. And for that money a customer should get the premium features in 2024. Oh also IS 500 bumper sag just ruined the car for me, there's a fix by community member but the bumper tabs get broken regardless and the chassis vibrates on road bumps and etc the chassis is really not built for the 2UR engine. Shame how Lexus keeps on removing features from RC F, 2025 is probably last model year for the RC F as LFR is coming.
Nice
It's a Mini Cooper without the Mini Cooper bullshit.
I did a trip from the bay to LA and back and I got a constant 33 to 34 mpg. This car is excellent on gas for being a performance car.
